Medina Township
Annual Town Meeting
April 9, 2024
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Township Clerk, Mary Sundermeyer, who then led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. 9 electors attended the meeting.
Clerk Sundermeyer introduced the supervisor, trustees and township officials who were present at the meeting.
Clerk Sundermeyer then announced that the balance of the meeting is, by state statute, to be conducted by a moderator; elected for such purpose by the electorate present. Mary Sundermeyer then nominated Jeff Sundermeyer to be moderator of the meeting, seconded by Mike Molohon. There being no additional nominees, Jeff Sundermeyer was then elected to be moderator by a voice vote of 8 ayes and 1 nay.
Mary Sundermeyer then made a motion to set the salary of the moderator at $75, seconded by Shawn Garner, followed by 8 “Aye” voice votes and 1 “Nay”.
Clerk Sundermeyer then administered the “Oath” of office to Jeff Sundermeyer. Jeff Sundermeyer then took control of the meeting.
Jeff then presented the agenda for adoption by the electorate. Barb Garner moved to adopt the agenda as presented, seconded by Frank Sturm followed by a unanimous “Aye” voice vote.
Jeff then called upon the Clerk to read the minutes of the previous Annual Town Meeting held April 11, 2023. Shawn Garner made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Barb Garner, followed by a unanimous “Aye” voice vote.
Jeff then asked the Clerk to present the Treasurer’s Report which included income, expenditures, and remaining balances of all funds of the Town and the Road District, respectively. Mary explained that this data was available for anyone to view at the meeting. Barb Garner then made a motion that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted as presented, seconded by Mike Molohon, followed by a unanimous “Aye” voice vote.

New Business:
Resolution #RES-TWN-2024-01 was presented to the electorate. This resolution authorizes $151,000 to be transferred from the General Town Fund to the Township Capital Fund. Shawn Garner made the motion to adopt the resolution, seconded by Barb Garner. The motion was adopted by 8 “Aye” voice vote and 1 “Nay”.
Resolution #RES-TWN-2024-02 was presented to the electorate. This resolution authorizes $130,000 to be transferred from the General Town Fund to the Park Capital. Shawn Garner made the motion to adopt the resolution, seconded by Barb Garner. The motion passed by 8 “Aye” voice votes and 1 “Nay”.
Jeff then called on Frank Sturm to explain the possible sale of surplus equipment. Frank showed pictures of a spray patch machine and tank which is 18 years old and has not been used much. He plans to offer this for sale to another governmental unit or sell the items under a competitive bid process with a minimum bid built in. This piece of equipment is hard to use and the road district usually hires out to have the patching done. Mike Molohon made a motion to allow Frank Sturm to sell this equipment. Shawn Garner seconded. The motion passed with a unanimous voice vote.
Ordinance No. GTO-2024-01 – Establishes date and time of the 2025 Annual Town Meeting to be held April 8th, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Frank Sturm made a motion that said ordinance be adopted, seconded by Mike Molohon, followed by 8 “Aye” and 1 “Nay” voice votes.
Public input was solicited, and none was offered.
There being no further business to come before the electorate, Moderator Jeff Sundermeyer returned control of the meeting to Clerk Mary Sundermeyer.
Clerk Sundermeyer then asked for a motion to adjourn. Mike Molohon moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Barb Garner, followed by a unanimous “Aye” voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 7:28 pm.
