The Medina Township Board of Trustees Monthly Meeting

Purpose:  Regularly Scheduled Board Meeting

Present:  Shawn Garner, Supervisor

Cam Parr, Trustee

Call To Order: Supervisor Garner called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm

Approval of Minutes: Mary presented the minutes from the Road District Levy Hearing of November 10, 2025. Shawn made a motion to approve the minutes, Cindy seconded. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote. Mary presented the minutes from the Township Levy Hearing from November. Shawn made a motion to approve the minutes, Luke seconded. The minutes were accepted with everyone voting in favor by voice.  Mary presented the minutes from Regular Township Board Meeting of November 2025. Shawn made a motion to approve the minutes, Adam seconded. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote.

Community Policing Report: Deputy Davison gave the report for November 2025. There were 58 reports made involving 38 reports of crimes (7 original crimes). There were also 61 traffic stops made in the township. Please lock your car doors when warming up vehicles during the winter.

Old Business: None

New Business: 

  1. The Decennial Local Government Efficiency report required by Governor Pritzker was reviewed and discussed.
  2. A few vendors were added to Appendix A for automatic payment and 6 were dropped as no longer needed. Vendors IT360 Inc and Stratus Networks were added. Shawn made a motion to update Appendix A and Luke seconded. The motion was passed by a unanimous voice vote.
  3. Then Community Needs Agency (CAN) applied for a grant in the amount of $1500 for Christmas Baskets. Luke made a motion to approve the grant, Cam seconded. A roll call vote was taken: Shawn – Aye, Cam – Aye, Cindy – Aye, Luke – Aye, Adam – Aye. The motion passes. Shawn will mail them a check.

Department Correspondence:

Supervisor Shawn Garner:  

  1. Investment Report: The report ending on December 10th, 2025, was previously presented to the board.
  2. There are no General Assistance (GA) cases. 
  3. Shawn has asked our attorney for an opinion on the easements requested for the Luthy parcels.
  4. There are no cases before the Plan Commission. 

Road Commissioner Frank Sturm: 

  1. We had to switch the leaf trucks to snowplows ahead of the snowstorm in early December. The crew still plans to make one more pass through the township to pick up the leaves, weather permitting.
  2. One of the parts for the leaf truck is 5-6 months overdue. The crew fabricated a temporary part so that all our machines are usable.
  3. We obtained a loan from Better Banks for the new Ford F550. The bank needs something in the minutes to show that the board supports the purchase and is aware of this loan. The board discussed this and has no objections to this purchase.
  4. Frank sent another email on Dec 8 to FCS Collections regarding the Frontier bill. He had not received a response as of meeting time.
  5. Nothing new to report on the Staab Rd bridge.

Trustees: None

Township/Road District Bills: 

Cam made a motion to pay the bills of the township. Luke seconded. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Adjournment: Adam made a motion to adjourn, and Cindy seconded it. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:31 pm.
