There were 75 traffic stops made in the township. Please lock your cars!!! Crimes of opportunity happen if we let them. With nicer weather more kids will be looking for these opportunities.
Public Input: Residents from Hickory Grove Rd spoke about speeding on the street. There are many young children who live along that road and the speed limit is 30 mph. Many ideas were discussed to slow the traffic including speed humps, police patrols, yellow lights at the crosswalk. Frank Sturm can talk with the Peoria County Engineer to discuss ideas.

Department Correspondence:
Supervisor Shawn Garner:
- Investment Report: The report ending on May 13, 2026, was previously presented to the board.
- There are no General Assistance (GA) cases.
- There are no cases before the Plan Commission.
- Shawn sent the Proposed Town Budget out and will have it available for review ahead of the Budget Meeting in June.
- The wooden picnic benches need to be replaced at Brookview Park.
- Shawn has raised the hourly rate for Will Smith who mows for the township.
Road Commissioner Frank Sturm:
- We picked up the new work truck.
- We are trying to do pothole repairs in between rain drops.
- Getting many calls on potholes, culverts and road repairs.
- Have been receiving multiple large trees with all the brush on them. We guess they are from a tree removal company. We started locking the gate on weekends and may have to lock it each evening. These are too large to be cut up with a chainsaw and take manpower to deal with.
- Frank has started planning the 2026 maintenance program. It will be smaller than in years past due to increased prices. For example: asphalt was $205-215 per ton before the Iran war, last year it was $150-160, and pre-Covid it was $85/ton.
- There is an uptick of people dumping stuff in the right-of-way. There are piles of brush, furniture and a truckload of trash. The crew mowed over a tire and a pile of bricks which tore up the mower blade.
Assessor: No report.
Plan Commission: No report.
Trustees: No report.
Township/Road District Bills: Luke made a motion to pay the bills of the township. Cam seconded. The motion was approved by a unanimous voice vote.
Adjournment: Adam made a motion to adjourn, and Luke seconded it. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:54 pm.
Respectfully submitted on this 13th day of May 2026,
Mary Sundermeyer
Township Clerk
